Light Up Hanging Witch Outdoor Halloween DecorationsOutdoor Halloween Decorations

The kids out trick or treating love nothing better than approaching a house that is covered in outdoor Halloween decorations and scary Halloween props in the front yard. The choice is so huge these days that you can choose to decorate your house and yard with really complicated life size props like a witch and cauldron, or a display of ghosts or skeletons.  Or, you could stick with tradition and go for simple lights with Jack-O-Lanterns or scarecrows. Whatever theme of Halloween outdoor decorations you choose, they are sure to delight all your visitors at this time of year.

The decorated yard, no matter what the theme, also makes for a great setting for your outdoor parties, weather permitting of course! If you want your scheme to be successful, it helps enormously to make a plan. The first thing you need to think about is what theme to choose this year. Once you know that, it is then much easier to buy or make the Halloween decorations you need to compliment the theme you’ve chosen.

Halloween Theme Ideas that Work Well Outdoors

Halloween Ghosts Prop1. Create a graveyard with gravestones and perhaps a skeleton or two.

2. A gathering of swooping ghosts.

3. Huge spiders crawling all over your house with lots of cobwebs.

4. A gathering of witches with broomsticks.

5. Perhaps you can do something with Bats and create a vampire theme.

Of course, you don’t have to stick with traditional ideas; you could find inspiration for your Halloween theme from TV and Movies, like the Pirates of the Caribbean or perhaps a Harry Potter theme.

It’s often a good idea to put the design for your theme on paper so that you can see where each of your outdoor Halloween decorations will be best placed. This could save you a lot of time in the long run.

Freddy Grave Walker PropI would suggest that you put your best props, pranks or gags near the entrance to your house so that your visitors have to walk past them to get to your front door. Some of these yard props and decorations are very realistic and you may manage to scare a few visitors if you place them just in the right place. You can get scary Halloween props that move as you walk past and are designed to scare people and some of the skeletons and zombies, clawing their way out of the ground, can be very effective.

If you don’t have the time to find all the different pieces you may need for your theme or you don’t feel creative enough to design your own Halloween party theme, you can buy large group props that have all the impact you need to create an effective Halloween scene. They usually have everything in them that you need and all you have to do is place them on or around your home as shown.

With just a little time and effort with your outdoor Halloween decorations, your home can be transformed into a wondrous spectacle of Halloween ghosts and ghouls to the delight of your friends and neighbors.  Happy Halloween!
